LoL Worlds 2024 Play-In match recap: GAM vs R7
- Game 1: GAM players get six Voidgrubs, Levi pressures and farms with Shyvana, GAM players continue with lane pressure while being ahead on gold, R7 players become far behind in terms of map pressure, GAM players secure a late-game push with multiple inhibitors to take down R7's Nexus — despite R7 claiming Hextech Soul.
- Game 2: GAM Kiaya gets first blood with Rumble, R7 players take first Drake, GAM Emo pressures enemy mid-laner with Yone, GAM players get ahead on gold, GAM players get killing spree near enemy Nexus and secure win.
"We've met Rainbow7 several times. This is my third encounter with them, and this time around, I wanted them to taste defeat.
"The team is in high spirits today. During the first game, I had a little bit of cold feet. I wasn't performing at my best, but thanks to my teammates, I was able to get back on my feet and play very well for the second game.
"People would usually expect GAM to be a very aggressive team with a very aggressive playstyle, but as for the games today, I think we've done pretty well on the macro and it was all thanks to Levi who was doing all the shot calls."
GAM Esports and Rainbow7 at LoL Worlds 2024
GAM players entered LoL Worlds 2024 with a couple of Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) victories under their belt. Just a month ago, they claimed the top spot in the VCS 2024 Summer Playoffs, and earlier this year, they secured the bulk of the prize pool in the VCS 2024 Spring Playoffs. Both wins were against Viking Esports (VKE).
Meanwhile, R7, a team from Latin America, entered LoL Worlds 2024 with some momentum of their own. In August 2024, they swept INFINITY (INF) 3-0 to win the Liga Latinoamérica (LLA) 2024 Closing Playoffs. R7 also took home the gold in the LLA 2024 Closing Season back in July.
