The Church of Chovy lives on.

The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2024 (LoL MDI 2024) is nearing its conclusion. It welcomed its first grand finalist after the Gen.G Esports vs Bilibili Gaming match today, which had more than a finals slot on the line. For mid-laner Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon, winning the Gen.G vs BLG match was for revenge, for his region, and for his career.

Both Gen.G and BLG were the champions in their respective regional leagues. This meant that they began their MSI 2024 journey in the bracket stage. To get to this upper bracket final, Gen.G took down Fnatic and Top Esports. Meanwhile, Bilibili Gaming beat PSG Talon and T1.

Game 1 began with a blunder from Gen.G's side as both Peyz and Lehends bought the support item. This did not end up mattering in the grand scheme of things, however. This game was ultimately decided by BLG's superior team fighting and Gen'G's lack of damage in their team composition. Bilibili Gaming opened up the series as they took Game 1.

Gen.G shook it up in Game 2 with Yone for Chovy and Canyon was given his signature Nidalee. They found early leads after a failed dive by BLG. This didn't spell the end for the Chinese team, though, as they found their own ways to keep themselves in the game. Armed with more aggression this time, the Gen.G mid-jungle duo shut down skeptics as they took over Bilibili.

Game 3 saw Canyon back on Nidalee and Chovy this time on Hwei. BLG brought out one ace up their sleeve in the form of Diana for Xun. Unlike the past two games, however, this game was not even close as Gen.G decimated BLG.

With Gen.G in match point, BLG was forced to bring out another pocket pick. This time, it was Vex for knight. Bilibili Gaming had the early lead through kills and objectives, but once Gen.G Esports grouped in the mid-game, they looked unstoppable. With carries Chovy and Peyz at the helm, Gen.G pressed the attack and punished desperate plays from BLG, earning them the game, the match, and the ticket to the final.
