LOUD will now have to bounce back when they take on DetonatioN FocusMe in the lower bracket.

It was a rough day at the office for the Brazilian squad LOUD. The CBLoL side lost 2-0 to G2 Esports in the series that kicked off MSI 2023. For LLL's Park "Croc" Jong-hoon, it was a series he would like to forget about quickly. Following the series, the Korean jungler sat down with esports.gg for an exclusive interview.

Critical errors took its tole this series for LOUD

"Thank you for taking the time to talk with me today, you had a critical mistake in the opening game of the series where you didn't buy items. You guys almost pulled off the victory regardless, how did you reset your mental after that mistake?"

LLL Croc: "It was a critical mistake, but I still somehow farmed pretty well, and I knew that Nidalee was level one as well, she was also having a bad jungle path. So I kept reminding myself that everything is okay."

"The last time I spoke to you was when you beat Fnatic at Worlds last year, are there any differences between the European teams you scrimmed at Worlds last year and the European teams you’ve played this year?"

LLL Croc: "I think the biggest difference is the pick and ban phase and draft. Because right now the meta against the European teams is that you really have to have a pick that can actually win in the first three to five-minute mark. I'm not talking about just level one but you have to be able to win between three to five minutes in the game.

If you actually take a pick that loses during that period of time then it’s really hard, which is what happened in game number two. So I think the first five minutes of the game are so important and that’s what changed the most."

"Were you expecting G2 to pick Nautilus mid and Darius, because it has been a pick in EU from time to time?

LLL Croc: "We did have in mind that the Darius is viable, but we were not sure whether they would actually play it. We actually expected Nautilus. It’s a big bummer that we were having control in game number one but we still lost this, and also in the second game as well."

"So on the format, I know you did lose 2-0, but do you prefer best-of-threes as opposed to best-of-ones in the group stage last year?"

LLL Croc: "Yeah, it’s a lot more fun to play. When it comes to best-of-ones, it actually does have something to do with luck, but best-of-threes comes all the way down to your performance level, so I liked it better."

"Do you think it will help the minor regions in the future because they have the option of making adaptations? Something that best-of-ones does not provide?

LLL Croc: "To be honest, I think best-of-ones actually give more chances to minor regions, because of the reasons I mentioned earlier, but I think you get a lot more lessons and takeaways when you get to play best of 3’s in such a competitive series. I believe our team is also very competitive to move forward. I just want to make sure that we just forget about what happened and keep moving on and focus on what’s going to happen."

"Moving forward, you do play DFM. Do you have any thoughts on them as a team?"

LLL Croc: "I wish we can get our revenge for last Worlds. I believe DFM is having a very similar power level just like us, so we shouldn’t look down on them. We have to do our best."

"Finally, is there anything you want to say to the fans back home?"

LLL Croc: "Thank you so much for supporting me even throughout the world, and I’m sorry that we were not able to play up to your hopes. But we will keep doing our best during the remainder of this tournament."
