LoL Global Power Rankings enter Worlds 2024

The LoL power rankings showcase Tier 1 leagues. The overall goal is to help fans track team standings and learn about the broader competitive scene.

"The result is a comprehensive and transparent snapshot of the global competitive landscape, updated after every day of play during Worlds 2024," Riot Games added.

This means the LoL Global Power Rankings will be showcased throughout the live LoL Worlds 2024 broadcast. Additionally, after crowning the winning team on Nov. 2, Riot Games will post the final rankings of the year.

LoL Esports Global Power Rankings explained

At the core of the LoL Esports Global Power Rankings is a "blended Elo metric" that's a "weighted average between a team's Elo and their league's Elo.

This approach makes the rankings easy to understand while also taking note of the meta. Team Elo and league Elo are weighted at 80% and 20%.

In terms of other key details, the model updates after every game in a series of matches, weighs international events more heavily, and has a two-year window for team Elo plus a three-year one for league Elo. Riot Games also touted predictive accuracy.

"International events are weighted more heavily than regional events, with knockout matches carrying more significance than group-stage matches," Riot Games explained. "This ensures that high-stakes fixtures have a greater impact on rankings."
