It’s been a few months since T1’s historic World Championship win. So when does competitive League of Legends begin again in 2024?

The start of League of Legends Season 2024 is fast approaching. With Patch 14.1 marking the beginning of a new season on January 10, when does the competitive League of Legends begin around the world? Read on for the answer to that question and more.

League of Legends competitive schedule

The start dates for each region's competitive seasons and the number of default World Championship slots they will retain have been announced. The action kicks off on January 13 with the LEC and the rest of the regions following soon after. The official announcement can be found here.

LEC (Europe, Middle East, and Africa)

LCK and LPL had their slots reduced from four to three in preparation for the global competitive format change to tie together the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and World Championship.

The best teams from each region will once again battle it out between the Spring and Summer split at MSI 2024. This is what has been confirmed so far.

Dates

  • May 1 to May 19

Location

  • Chengdu, China

The winner of MSI 2024 will receive an automatic berth into the World Championship adding another way for teams to qualify for the Championship year-ending event. This winner will also be required to qualify for their region's summer playoffs to maintain their automatic berth. Additionally, the runner-up will earn their region an extra slot at the World Championship.

The League of Legends World Championship returns to Europe to see which team will prevail and hoist the Summoner's Cup. Here are the released venues and schedule. The event is spread out across Germany, and France with the Finals taking place at the O2 Arena in London.
