The LCP is returning in 2026 with more action and exciting format changes. Here’s everything you need to know.
Many changes are coming to the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LPC) in 2026. Most of the updates will take place in the final split of the year, so let’s get straight to what’s coming next year.
Split 1 and 2
In these splits, the overall structure will largely remain the same. However, at the Playoffs stage, every match will now be best-of-five (Bo5). This change is designed to make the LCP more competitive and entertaining, while also making it easier for fans to follow the stakes and track progress throughout the season.
During the first and second splits, Riot will continue using the single round-robin best-of-three (Bo3) format for the regular season, while implementing hybrid elimination Bo5s in the Playoffs.
The 1v1 will be replaced by 2v2 to determine the right to select sides. Expect non-stop action in the side selection battles. In 2026, the Split 1 matches will start earlier, at 10 p.m. PT / 8 a.m. CEST. At the end of the split, the LCP will monitor fans' feedback and review if it is necessary.
Swiss Stage Split 3
Things start to change at this stage. Based on feedback from fans and the community, the LCP has been seen as lacking some dynamic matchups and rivalries. To address this, both Bo3 and Bo5 formats may be used depending on the round. For example, teams will play a Bo5 series during qualification or elimination matches.
At the end of the split, three teams will qualify for the LoL Worlds 2026, which will be held in North America. This year, the LCP is introducing Championship Points to determine the final team qualifying. "We want to ensure teams are rewarded for consistent performances throughout the season," Riot explained.
Two LCP guest teams will defend their spot in the league against top teams from APAC domestic leagues. The league will share more details as we get closer to the new season, so don't forget to check their social media.
