Riot cracks down on alleged inappropriate remarks made by a pro player and hands out a one-year ban.

The LCK and LoL Esports have handed out a one-year ban from regional and international tournaments to Hanwha Life's jungler Kim "Clid" Tae-min. The ban follows a social media storm surrounding alleged inappropriate remarks allegedly made to several young women online. Reports of the remarks first surfaced in June 2023, as reported by Korean news outlets referring to a "Player A".

The LCK's investigation into the matter has resulted in a 12-month/one-year suspension from regional and international play. This will mean that Clid will be unable to play in the LCK, or at MSI and Worlds. The accusations of sexual harassment have been upheld by the LCK and have been reported in Korean news outlets.

Accusations first came to light back in June 2023, via Twitter/X and were later taken onto Reddit with a summary of what had happened. The accusations included sexual harassment, and inappropriate non-consensual remarks online.

Further accusations also came out from another young woman; which led to his removal from the main roster and use substitute instead. These accusations were originally made on Twitter/X; with screenshots provided of the remarks. Throughout the accusations, Clid and Hanwha Life both remained quiet and made no statements on the matter.

Clid LCK banned from play for a year

With the investigation by the LCK into the accusations, Clid has now been banned from play for a year. As mentioned, this means he will not be able to play regionally or internationally, and will likely remain a sub until the ban has been lifted.

LCK LPL Clid

For those unfamiliar with the name, Kim "Clid" Tae-min is an LCK jungler who has played on a number of top teams across his career. Having originally begun his esports career in 2016, Clid has played across the LCK and LPL including SK Telecom 1, Gen G, and FunPlus Phoenix.

No statement has been forthcoming so far from Clid himself or Hanwha Life; in regard to the original accusation or the suspension.
