The GOAT never stops beating records in League of Legends. Faker is now the first player to reach 100 victories in Worlds. Congratulations!

Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok never ceases to surprise his fans. Today, after T1's victory over G2 Esports, Faker achieved a historic milestone — he reached 100 wins in the League of Legends Worlds Championships (LoL Worlds). This is a great way to celebrate T1's qualifying for the LoL Worlds 2024 Knockout Stage.

With a historic victory against an old rival, G2 Esports, it will be interesting to see how far the Faker's records will continue to increase. Faker is now the first player in the LoL history to ever reach the 100th victory in the LoL Worlds. There's no one even close to this milestone.

Faker's 100 Worlds wins and other records

Faker is now used to beating every record he can. Being one of the most prominent players in the competitive LoL scene, Faker is already the player with the most appearances in the LoL Worlds, totaling nine.

He's now a four-time LoL Worlds winner, 10-time national champion, two-time MSI winner, and an icon for hundreds of players. His wide pool of champions and his famous macro have kept him relevant in the game's history for more than a decade.

Faker is also the first player to join the LoL Hall of Legends. Each year, Riot Games honors one player for their contributions to the game and achievements throughout their career. This celebration started this year, and the next honored player has yet to be revealed.

Loyal to Korean League of Legends

Faker is also a player who only played on one team his entire career: the Korean T1 (previously called SK Telecom T1). He started playing competitive LoL in 2013 when his amazing skills in the Korean solo queue drew the attention of the team. Since that year, the mid lane belonged to the G.O.A.T, the greatest of all time. At only 17 years old, Faker won LoL Worlds in his debut year.

Faker never left T1 for another team, growing up alongside from many players and coaches. His love and talent for the game kept him playing it for many years. He's also responsible for bringing a lot of attention to LoL as well as its national and international events.

Since 2022, Faker, Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung, and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok formed an incredible team that has been conquering the scene and the fans' hearts. However, the future of the four remaining players of T1's current roaster is still uncertain since their contract will expire in November. Faker is the only one, as of now, with his contract renewed for another year.

Faker's retirement

There's no date for the T1 mid-laner's retirement even though he's already 28 years old, which is considered an advanced age for some LoL players. One thing we can be certain of is that if he decides to quit playing, he will definitely have a place on the executive board of T1.

However, he doesn't seem to be retiring soon. Therefore, you'll have plenty of time to appreciate and learn how to play the game with him.

That's all for now. Stick around for more news and updates on esports.gg.
