The Unkillable Demon King will be staying put for three more years.

In an offseason that is filled with major roster changes, the one roster move that seemed to be impossible was Faker departing from his home in T1. Today any T1 fans that had nervous doubts can be put at ease. T1 released a simple yet effective graphic on their Twitter account this morning, stating the Unkillable Demon King has re-signed for three more years.

Fakers' contract with the three-time world champions expired on November 21 and although there was an opportunity for him to play elsewhere, it was never a realistic possibility that Faker would be donning anything other than a T1 jersey in 2023.

It is expected that T1 will be running back the same roster going into the 2023 season. And with good reason, this squad has spent the last couple of years developing into the powerhouse it is today. Faker and T1 were within touching distance of becoming a four-time world champions. T1 was just edged out by DRX who completed their cinderella story by upsetting the favorites.

Fakers drive sets him apart from the rest

When you have won as much as Faker has, many ask the question, what is there left to prove? For Faker, winning Worlds never gets boring. When we spoke to Faker during Worlds 2022, the greatest of all time alluded to having 'different motivations' for each tournament.

I think that motivations can not be the same all the time, so I have different motives coming to this Worlds. My biggest motivation in this Worlds is to improve myself and play at my best.”

If the T1 roster is to be the same going into 2023, here is how they will line up:

  • Top: Choi "Zeus" Woo-je
  • Jungle: Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun
  • Mid: Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok
  • ADC: Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong
  • Support: Ryu "Keria" Min-seok
