EMEA becomes the second region to introduce Champions Queue

EMEA’s best players can offically start their champions queue journey on January 24.

The 2023 EMEA (LEC) season kicks off in two days! And with that, comes another exciting announcement for the region. EMEA becomes the second region to introduce Champions Queue - a competitive matchmaking experience for players of the highest level.

Starting January 24, every LEC player along with some players from the ERL's will have exclusive access to Champions Queue. Riot has been working closely with their North American colleagues, the first region which saw a successful launch of Champions Queue.

What are the key dates for EMEA Champions Queue?

The LEC has announced four out of the five key dates for when Champions Queue will be available in Europe. The only date that has not been confirmed at the time of this article is the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) Champions Queue. Here are the key dates for the upcoming Champions Queue:

  • Split 1 - January 24 - February 23
  • Split 2 - February 28 - March 31
  • MSI Split - TBD
  • Split 3 - May 30 - June 30
  • Split 4 - July 4 - August 11

Which players can take part?

For the launch of the EMEA Champions Queue, only players competing in the LEC and selected ERL players will be able to play on January 24. Riot has listed which players will exactly have access to this solo queue environment.

  • LEC starting lineup players
  • LEC registered substitutes (must be Grandmaster or higher in Solo Queue in the previous or current season)
  • Accredited ERL starting lineup players
  • For LFL - France Prime League - DACH Superliga - Spain TCL - Turkey Ultraliga - Eastern Europe: Players who have previously competed professionally in the LEC for at least one Season (must be Grandmaster or higher in Solo Queue in the previous or current season).
