C9 fans can’t hide their disappointment for not qualifying for LoL Worlds 2024, demanding a new roster and coach for 2025.

League of Legends (LoL) organization Cloud9, or C9, was forced to exit early from the 2024 LCS Summer Split after losing 1-3 to 100 Thieves in the Lower Bracket Semifinal held today, resulting in the team finishing in 4th place this season and not qualifying to Worlds 2024.

The results were shocking for fans, as C9 was seen going strong on the Group Stage with a 7:1 score, only dropping one best-of-three series against Team Liquid in Week 6. They then continued their journey to the Upper Bracket Semifinals, when things started to go against their favor.

C9 recorded a 3:1 loss against 100 Thieves on Lower Bracket Semifinal (image via esports.gg)

C9 to miss Worlds for the second time in history

This is not the first time the organization has had to miss Worlds. While C9 has been one of the regular teams in LoL Worlds — with a record of 10 presences at the prestigious tournament they had failed to qualify once in 2020 after losing 1:3 to TSM, exiting in the 4th place.

Blaber and Vulcan apologized to fans

Robert "Blaber" Huang who has been in C9's jungler since November 2019 expressed his frustration on his personal X (Twitter) on the same day, acknowledging that they haven't been able to reach their potential, and apologizing to fans for it.

The team's support Philippe "Vulcan" Laflamme also shares the same sentiment as his fellow teammate, apologizing to C9 fans as they failed to qualify for Worlds 2024.

How the community reacts

After C9 loss today, the LoL community especially C9 fans can't hide their disappointment and show it to social media. Today's post by Cloud9 League of Legends has been flooded with mixed comments, with some questioning how the coach drafted for the team.

Fans are also demanding roster changes to start anew in 2025, while some think it is not the roster's problem and hope C9 will keep all five players.

While there are still no official announcements from C9 on how will they prepare for 2025, C9 fans are bracing themselves for changes either on the coaching staff or the roster itself. Rumors about roster changes usually happen during the off-season, which is expected to start in the 2025 preseason from November 2024 to January 2025.
