Bilibili Gaming won LPL Summer 2024, claims first seed to Worlds

The League of Legends Pro League (LPL) has officially concluded its 2024 Summer Split, announcing Bilibili Gaming as the champion and the first seed team representing China at the Worlds 2024. The MSI 2024 runner-up won the tournament with minimum losses and did not drop to the lower bracket.

The LPL 2024 Summer Split started on June 1, with the deciding best-of-five (Bo5) matches between Bilibili Gaming and Weibo Gaming held on Aug. 30 concluding with a final score of 3-0 in favor of Bilibili Gaming.

The team's mid laner, Liu "Knight" Yuxiang, was announced as the Player of the Game in all three matches, eventually resulting in him being named the Finals MVP. As the champion of the LPL 2024 Summer Split, Bilibili Gaming won approximately $275,000 USD and became to first team announced to represent China at the Worlds 2024.

Following Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports is named China's second seed going into Worlds 2024. The team was selected after successfully collecting 150 points at the LPL Championship Points 2024, the second most points after Bilibili Gaming.

LPL Championship Points 2024 is a system adopted by LPL to select the second seed representing the region. All of the teams participating at the LPL 2024 will be rewarded with points based on their final rankings on both the Spring and Summer Split, with the Summer Split giving a larger amount of points.

The LPL is rewarded with four spots at Worlds 2024, which is the same amount as the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) circuit thanks to their brilliant performance at Mid-Season Invitational 2024 (MSI) 2024.

While the two teams representing the LPL have been chosen, there are still two remaining spots for the third and fourth seeds, which will be announced through the LPL Regional Finals 2024 held from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2.

The LPL Regional Finals 2024 will feature four teams with the highest Championship Points aside from Bilibili Gaming and Top Esports: Weibo Gaming, LNG Esports, Ninja in Pyjamas, and JDG Gaming.

Two teams with higher points, Weibo Gaming and LNG Esports, will compete in the upper bracket final, with the winner qualifying for Worlds 2024 as the LPL's third seed.

On the other hand, Ninja in Pyjamas and JDG Gaming will participate in the lower bracket semifinal, with the winner going against the loser of the upper bracket final to secure the last spot in Worlds 2024.
