Arcane Afterglow talks CaitVi kiss, Jayce and Viktor relationship, and more

Riot Games and Netflix have just revealed the first episode of Arcane Afterglow. This episode features exclusive interviews with Ella Purnell, Hailee Steinfeld, and Christian Linke. While Purnell plays Jinx, Steinfelda acts as Vi in the Arcane series. Meanwhile, Linke is the co-creator and showrunner. The release date and time of the first episode of Arcane Afterglow is Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. PST. This means you can watch it now on YouTube. Meanwhile, the second episode is set for Nov. 19 while the third episode is slated for Nov. 26.

In terms of what to expect in Arcane Afterglow, the first episode features Purnell and Steinfelda talking with Linke about Jinx's inner monster and how Vi deals with it. This episode also goes into Vi and Caitlyn's kiss, Jayce and Viktor's rift, the relationship between Jinx and Sevika, the Ambessa reveal, and more.

According to Steinfelda, Vi is willing to go as far as she could to save her people. However, even the tiniest glimpse of Powder through Jinx could stop her. As the audience, we join Vi on this journey, trying to understand her struggle and the complex family dynamics involved — especially since it was Vi who once told Powder there was hope for her. Meanwhile, Purnell discusses whether Jinx is truly a monster or simply more lost than ever.

"She has so much to reckon with," Purnell said. "She's made so many mistakes, and there's so much insecurity and so much guilt that just threatens to topple her, and, y'know, she was also raised by Silco. She killed both her dads. I think she's just really, really struggling and really lost. The self-hatred that she has and the guilt — that can be very destabilizing. I think it's really hard to know who you really are when you're just listening to voices."

This episode also goes into Vi and Caitlyn's kiss, acknowledging how they both want that intimacy, but it's difficult due to their circumstances. According to Steinfelda, Vi's lines before the kiss encapsulates her inner conflict: "Everyone in my life has changed. Promise me you won't change."

"Vi is in a place where she's lost everything," Steinfelda said. "She's lost anything and everything she's ever felt seen by or close to. The only way she has any of it left is through Caitlyn, and she's now asking [her] to never change, given what she's now going through."

Arcane Afterglow talks about Jayce and Viktor's relationship as well, with the former willing to do whatever it takes to save the latter's life. However, the Anomaly has changed Viktor. To Linke, Jayve has always been more idealistic about their shared dream. However, Viktor comes from a place where he wants to improve what's tangible.

"This technology that they've both invented is at the center of a conflict," Linke said. "They're starting to have different opinions about what is right to do here. Two people that start the story together, trusting each other, and then this conflict of these two cities forces both to choose. Here's someone you really care about. Are you going to be able to really pull the trigger in the end?"

Episode 1 of Arcane Afterglow includes the appearance of a surprise guest as well. This is after it discusses the Ambessa reveal, the unanswered questions in Act 1, plus the relationships between Vi and Jinx, Caitlyn and Vi, Jayce and Viktor, and Jinx and Sevika. Following this, fans of this series can get a sneak peak of Arcane Season 2 Act 2.
