League of Legends is giving a crazy twist to a classic game mode. ARAM Mayhem brings the chaos of Augments to the 5v5 mode!

The classic ARAM game mode in League of Legends is getting a bit of a shakeup with the addition of Augments. The result? League is getting a new mode: ARAM Mayhem.

What we know about ARAM: Mayhem

Augments have been a part of the League of Legends ecosystem for a while. They are a core mechanic in the 2v2 game mode Arena and in Teamfight Tactics.

In fact, Augments in ARAM is not a wholly new concept. The AAA ARAM mode for Wild Rift, which was released last year, already had this mechanic. After "overwhelmingly positive" feedback from WR players, it's headed to League of Legends.

ARAM Mayhem goes live on LoL patch 25.21, scheduled for Oct. 22, 2025.

Everybody gets an augment at levels 7, 11, and 15. Arena players will see a lot of their favorites cross the bridge, but devs say they're also adding more than 40 brand-new Augments.

The dev blog and the update video gave us a look at some of the Augments we're getting in ARAM Mayhem. First, an Augment that seems to allow movement while in Stasis. This clip also shows the effect of an item similar to Cruelty's - so we might be getting some Prismatic items in the shop too.

Next, Biggest Snowball Ever, which supersizes the Snowball from the Mark summoner spell, causing it to knock up enemies on hit. There are other Snowball-related, and hence ARAM-exclusive, Augments. There's Snowball Upgrade that makes your Snowball deal AoE DMG, and Fetch, which allows you to pick up allies' Snowballs to refresh your Mark cooldown.

We have information on other new Augments. King Me gives you bonuses when you take the enemy Hexgate, Bloom Portal, or Cannon. This bonus comes in the form of an upgraded item, a prismatic Augment, and more.

Arena is a 2v2 game mode, while ARAM is 5v5. To prevent team fights from being too overwhelming, the "persistent" Augments from Arena will not be included in ARAM. This includes Augments like Center of the Universe that give you Aurelion Sol's old stars, or Slow Cooker that consistently deals damage around your champion.

More on ARAM

The dev update reassured ARAM enjoyers that the vanilla game mode isn't going anywhere, and Mayhem will exist as a separate one. They did not disclose whether Mayhem will be a permanent addition or a limited-time game mode.

Moreover, the two other maps in rotations added earlier this year (Butcher's Bridge, Koeshin's Crossing) were initially intended to be phased out by the end of Season 2. However, due to feedback, it's going to remain in the pool indefinitely.
