Honkai Star Rail: 5-star Tingyun revealed as “Fugue”

Honkai Star Rail has officially announced the 5-star version of Tingyun! The unit, called "Fugue," will be a playable character in an upcoming update.

In Honkai Star Rail, Tingyun's return comes in the form of Fugue. She is a 5-star Fire Nihility unit, the first of this archetype.

Her name is more of a description of her character now. "The one in a fugue who has experienced life and death." Fugue, in psychiatry, is defined as "a state or period of loss of awareness of one's identity, often coupled with flight from one's usual environment."

This lines up with the reveal where it states that her appearance, name, and identity have been stolen.

Prior to this, Tingyun was one of the prominent characters on the Trailblazer's journey aboard the Xianzhou Luofu. She worked for the Sky-Faring Commission and served as the crew's guide and companion for a short while.

Eventually, we learn that this Tingyun has been an impostor all along, puppeteered by Lord Ravager Phantylia. In Honkai Star Rail version 2.5, during the Trailblaze Continuance "A Fugue from Beyond," Ruan Mei finds the genuine Tingyun. She remembers her name, at least, which paints a mistruth on the official reveal for Fugue.

She will keep her voice actors from her 4-star and NPC versions.

For the English voiceover, Laci Morgan voices Fugue. Her previous roles include Eleanor Gloria and Clarisse from Shadowverse, Lily from Cutie Cubies, and Quiry from Goddess of Victory: Nikke.

Yuuki Takada does Fugue and Tingyun's voice for the Japanese localization. Notable previous roles include Tharja, Rhajat, and Cherche from Fire Emblem Heroes, Onodera Rei from Kaguya-sama: Love is War, and Rin Kurosawa from Aikatsu!.

She will be playable on December 4, 2024 with the Honkai Star Rail version 2.7 update. She shares this release window with Sunday.
