A game actually listening to its player base? Highguard is officially adding the 5v5 mode permanently, as fans praised it during its limited-time run.

Nothing beats when a game actually listens to its player base. Highguard, the newest PvP raid shooter, is doing just that (listening) by giving fans the 5v5 game mode permanently, after it was just a limited time mode.

Highguard makes 5v5 raid mode permanent due to fan excitement

After releasing just last week (January 26, 2026), Highguard has quickly become a favorite amongst gamers. The PvP raid shooter takes a page from the book of popular games such as Rainbow Six Siege, Deadlock and more, but provides its own twist.

At first, Highguard was simply a 3v3 game. The 5v5 mode was just a limited-time game mode that launched with the game, but fans quickly begged for it to become a permanent mode.

And, well, Highguard’s devs listened.

This move by the game’s devs was a direct result to the player base dropping heavily after launch, as many complained about its 3v3 mode being empty and stale. Quickly, Highguard executed a plan to bring gamers back, and it looks like that plan is actually working.

Highguard boss makes comment regarding player feedback

It would seem that player feedback is important to those over at Wildlight Entertainment, as the team has made it clear that the peoples’ voice matters most.

”It doesn’t matter how many people play the game,” said Chad Grenier, Highguard’s boss, amidst flailing player base. “What matters most is that the game is loved by the people who played it.”

This type of dedication towards its fans is a path many other game developers should follow, as it has already created unity within the gaming community, as even those who have never played the game now feel more inclined to download Highguard.

Will you be playing Highguard’s now permanent 5v5 mode? Or will you be sticking to a different game for the time being?
