How Hearthstone Remixed cards work in the Audiopocalypse Mini-Set

Everything you need to know about the Remixed cards in Hearthstone’s new Audiopocalypse Mini-Set.

Hearthstone’s Audiopocalypse Mini-Set is out now, showcasing the Grimtotem clan as they wreak havoc upon the Festival of Legends. But they might not be the greatest villain. Instead, Remixed cards bring the peril of uncertainty to the Hearthstone tavern. We might be constantly puzzled as to what effect they will have next turn. Let’s see what we can expect.

Hearthstone Remixed cards breakdown

Remixed cards can get one of four random effects. The effect changes every turn. Unlike Festival of Legends’ Harmonic mechanic, there are no rules that dictate the order. This is how the Festival of Legends and Audiopocalypse lead envisioned them.

Firstly, there are five Remixed cards, split evenly across Demon Hunter, Mage, Neutral, Shaman, and Warrior. Let's start with the Neutral one, which is a card of general interest. Next, even if you don’t main certain classes, browsing their cards can help you understand and predict your opponent's plays.

Secondly, pay attention to the art. Each effect has its own personalized “skin” and name. Each section contains a gallery of all possible Remixed options. Read on to find out the exact effects of each Remixed card and inform your decisions. Knowledge is power!

Neutral: Remixed Musician

Remixed Musician is a 3 mana 3/3 Rush minion that comes with a suite of random effects: Divine Shield, Lifesteal, Windfury, and Poisonous. While Divine Shield and Windfury might provide the most tempo in the early game, Poisonous is what you will be wishing upon come late game.

Demon Hunter: Remixed Rhapsody

This area of effect (AoE) spell provides that board clear that’s been missing after Chaos Nova went to Wild. The comparison is apt, as both the Hearthstone legacy staple and the Remixed card can hit your own minions. The effects include a hard board clear by triggering twice, which is an additional nod to Immolation Aura. It can also offer card draw, an extra body, or let you attack.

Mage: Remixed Dispense-o-Bot

This 4 mana 4/4 Mech can either give you two random Coins, Frost Spells, Mechs, or Secrets. So pick your poison! Pray for an Explosive Sheep if you ever need AoE.

"Mine gave me free money!" "Mine gave me free ice cream!" "… mine gave me two sheep that explode. They were free but I still want a refund."

Shaman: Remixed Totemcarver

A fan favorite returns. This is the modern rendition of Tuskarr Totemic. That Tuskarr could initially spawn any totem during its heyday. In an attempt to put an end to the “Shamanstone” meta, this card got nerfed to only summon basic totems.

Lo and behold, Remixed Totemcarver is also a Tuskarr — a pleasant Hearthstone throwback. Moreover, it can summon Flametongue Totem and Mana Tide Totem like the good old days. There’s also a Stereo Totem with handbuff effects.

If Jukebox Totem doesn’t ring a bell, it's one of the new dual-class cards. This time, it’s a combination featuring Shaman and Paladin. And that's right — it spawns a Silver Hand Recruit AKA a dude.

Warrior: Remixed Tuning Fork

This is Hearthstone’s new attempt to replace the almighty Fiery War Axe on turn two. While it doesn’t offer those fabled 3/2 stats, it’s a 2/2 weapon with a chance of becoming a 4/2. The other effects are 5 Armor, Discover a Taunt minion, or the juicy cleave. Be extra careful with positioning when facing a Warrior.

Hearthstone mechanics: Remixed versus Harmonic

Remixed cards are a more chaotic take of Harmonic cards — or their Worgen precursors from the Witchwood expansion. Harmonics are predictable due to swapping between the same two versions each turn. This makes planning ahead easy. Meanwhile, Remixed swaps between four effects in a random fashion. Therefore, you might have to make some awkward plays and maybe float some mana in order to use a certain effect before it vanishes. Pre-emptive cleave on the Warrior weapon comes to mind.

Hearthstone mechanics: Remixed versus Unidentified

For those (un)fortunate enough to remember Kobolds and Catacombs, the Remixed mechanic is a direct upgrade to Unidentified cards. The only difference is that the effect could not change between turns and players would be stuck with the one random effect for the whole game.

Trivia

Which is the best Remixed card? Only time will tell. There is a clear winner in terms of Easter eggs, though. Remixed Rhapsody’s flavor text reads, "Is this real life?" "No, this is a card game." It's a nod to the opening lyrics of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Consequently, the Mini-Set stays true to its parent expansion’s musical roots. Not even the "tuna" wordplay on Remixed Tuning Fork can top that.
