Hearthstone Twist: everything you need to know about the new mode

Hearthstone has just announced a new game mode: Twist. The much-awaited Wild update is here. Let’s go over it!

Today, Blizzard announced the release of a new mode, Hearthstone Twist. The open beta for Hearthstone Twist most likely launches on June 27, so if you want to know everything about it ahead of its release, this is the perfect place.

What is Twist, Hearthstone's new mode?

Hearthstone Twist is a new game mode that will have a dynamic format and rules. "New Age" will be its first season and will allow players to build decks using cards from the Ashes of Outlands expansion onwards. But wait, there's a Twist!

The new Hearthstone Twist game mode has two different dimensions. The first one is that despite it uses Wild cards, it's not just any sets. Each season will have a predetermined list of eligible expansions. What gives this new mode a Twist -and its name-, is that each season will also come with a special deckbuilding rule.

"Twist is a Hearthstone ladder Mode with regularly rotating seasons, each with a twist on the rules! Twist formats can include curated card pools and special rulesets. These formats are sure to bring back some of your favorites, but in a new setting with a new meta to crack!"

The first season of Hearthstone's new mode Twist, most likely starts on June 27 and will last until August. The special rule for this "New Age" season is that decks can't contain Neutral cards. The eligible expansion list is the following:

Hearthstone Twist Mode Rewards and Rankings

Twist will be replacing Classic Mode and will live in that exact same place. Players can find the new mode in the Game selector in the Hearthstone main section, the same place where you go and play Standard, Wild or Casual.

To make it simple, this new game mode will have the same ladder structure that we all know with Ranks, Stars and Legend as the top level. Blizzard would also post Hearthstone new mode Twist leaderboards on their site.

Twist's ladder rewards are the same that other ladder game modes. Depending on how high you end in the season, you will get a different amount of packs and other loot. There's something we need to mention at this point.

Similarly to what happens with Wild and Standard modes, Hearthstone Twist will not duplicate ladder rewards. This means that players will get rewards based on their highest placement or best chest between the three modes.

You’ll also be able to earn ranked rewards from the Twist ladder, like Standard or Wild. June’s ranked rewards will be based on your highest ladder rank across Standard, Wild, Classic, or Twist.
