“While it has evolved and adapted over the past 10 years, one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that there is an amazing team behind it, with as much passion and energy as ever.”

Hearthstone's new Perils in Paradise expansion is now in full swing. However, some folks in the community have expressed dissatisfaction about not getting a new board for the expansion. Nathan Lyons-Smith, the executive producer of Hearthstone, addressed this concern and more in an official post. He also assured players that Hearthstone is here to stay.

Hearthstone addresses lack of Perils in Paradise board

In the post, Lyons-Smith stated that the Hearthstone team is committed to the game's longevity. He also acknowledged that moving forward, the team will improve in terms of communication. After sharing that Hearthstone's strategy is based around the words "fun, focus, and fearless" and providing examples of this, Lyons-Smith addressed the lack of a Perils in Paradise board.

"When we decided not to make a board for Perils in Paradise, we should have let you know earlier," he said. "Moving forward, we will ensure that you get early visibility on changes like this and give you more information on what we’re working on instead."

Hearthstone pulls back from game boards to work on pets and hero skins

Lyons-Smith continued, noting that his team plans to release one new Hearthstone board per year. His team also has some ambitious ideas that would require a lot of effort.

"Pulling back from three static game boards per year to one allows us to begin work on the coolest possible dynamic stuff — like a system to choose your favorite boards, and pets," he explained. "We’ve also heard so much positive feedback about C’Thun and so are working on some truly groundbreaking new hero skins."

As of now, it's too soon to reveal details. However, the team "will fast-track putting all existing Hearthstone boards into the Standard format board rotation."

"Hearthstone is here to stay."

Lyons-Smith concluded the post by stating that over the past 10 years, Hearthstone has continued to have a passionate team behind it.

"Hearthstone is here to stay," he said. "While it has evolved and adapted over the past 10 years, one thing that hasn’t changed is the fact that there is an amazing team behind it, with as much passion and energy as ever."
