Everything to know about the HCS year 2 schedule so far

More team funded events expected as HCS moves into year 2.

Year 2 of the Halo Championship series is officially underway. With major teams like Cloud9 and eUnited out of the mix, it is time for new rosters to take their place. Fans have already been treated to some fun and competitive Halo with the SSG Spartan Showdown recently wrapping up.

When does HCS Year 2 officially kick off?

The Spacestation Gaming Spartan Showdown has recently concluded with the brand new FaZe Clan roster taking down the 2022 World Champions in OpTic Gaming in a thrilling grand final to take home the first tournament victory of the 2023 HCS season.
Here are the full results of the SSG Spartan Showdown:
  • 1st: FaZe Clan
  • 2nd: OpTic Gaming
  • 3rd: French Toast
  • 4th: Native Red
  • 5th: Status Quo
  • 6th: Spacestation Gaming

What happened to the OpTic Gaming LAN?

Although fans were excited for competitive Halo to pick up right where it left off, the second season of the HCS could not have gotten off to a more disappointing start. OpTic Gaming, unfortunately, had to postpone their HCS LAN in Texas after struggling to get "HCS teams to commit".
On December 1st, OpTic Gaming founder and CEO Hector 'H3CZ' Rodriguez announced during a podcast that the Halo LAN would not be going forward as planned.

The final announcement from Tashi on the desk at Worlds 2022 was the first major for the 2023 HCS season. The 2023 HCS Kickoff Major will take place in Charlotte NC from February 24 and will conclude on February 26. This will be the first official HCS event of the year and once again Esports Engine will be helping to run the tournaments for Halo this year.
Stay tuned to for the latest Halo news and updates.
