Genshin Impact 5.1 will have incomplete English voice-overs.

HoYoverse disclosed that the Genshin Impact update for version 5.1 has incomplete English voiceovers.

Missing English voice-over in Genshin Impact 5.1

The Genshin Impact 5.1 update, "The Rainbow Destined to Burn," added lots of new content, including the new playable character Xilonen. However, one particular bullet point was spotted by eagle-eyed players in the official update details posted on HoYoLAB.

The note reads, "Due to recording arrangements, some content in Version 5.1 does not have English voice-overs. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused." This is most likely due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike that has affected multiple gaming titles.

This is not a one-off issue. A lot of HoYoverse content put out in recent weeks lacked English voice-overs. One recent video was the Events Overview for this update.

As of the time of writing, it has not yet been found which parts of Genshin Impact version 5.1 have the incomplete voice-overs. The lack of English voices in the above video leads many to believe that it will be the limited-time events, particularly the Sumeru-centric one.

The SAG-AFTRA strike

The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) is holding the strike against Formosa Interactive, a company affiliated with voice-over work for HoYoverse.

It began on July 26 this year, and aims for transparency around the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industry, among other demands.

HoYoverse and voice actors

This is only one of the voice actor issues that HoYoverse has run into recently. The voice actors for Honkai Star Rail's Moze, Argenti, Huohuo, and Tail were changed abruptly.

Despite the timing, this was wholly unrelated to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
