Less lost 50-50s and easier Weapon banners in Genshin Impact? Sign me up.
The Genshin Impact version 5.0 livestream focused on the newest region, Natlan, but it also had many surprising announcements for the players. Developers HoYoverse unveiled the Capturing Radiance mechanic making the 50-50 better with the upcoming Genshin Impact 5.0 update.
Goodbye to 50/50 in Genshin Impact?
In Genshin Impact version 5.0, the "Capturing Radiance" mechanic will be introduced. This will affect the Character Event Banners only, meaning the Standard Banner will remain as it is.
How the old 50/50 worked
Here's a short refresher on how the guarantee mechanic, widely referred to as "50-50," currently works in Genshin Impact. Note that this only applies to the limited Character Event Banners.
Scenario 1 (no guarantee): If your previous 5-star was the featured unit, your next 5-star has a 50% chance of being the featured unit. The other 50% is the chance that you get a unit from the Standard Pool. This latter scenario is what's called "losing the 50-50."
Scenario 2 (has guarantee): If your previous 5-star was not the featured unit, your next 5-star is guaranteed to be the featured unit.

Capturing Radiance explained
The new Capturing Radiance mechanic in the Genshin Impact 5.0 update bumps the chances of getting the featured character.
HoYoverse clarified that Capturing Radiance only has a chance to happen if you don't have the guarantee (scenario 1 in the above section). If you do have the guarantee, the status quo is maintained with the current gacha system.
They let us skip the math, and with this new mechanic, the chance you get the featured character is now 55%! The 5% isn't a lot, but we take what we can get.
Again, HoYoverse reiterated that this would not apply to the Standard and Weapon banners. The latter, however, is getting a more meaningful change.
Easier Weapon Banner in Genshin Impact
The Epitomized Path mechanic within the featured Weapon Banner will also be improved. After the Genshin 5.0 update, players will only need one Fate Point to guarantee the chosen weapon.
Here's a rundown of the two scenarios, pre- and post-5.0 updates. These scenarios assume that you are unlucky and do not get the chosen weapon early.
