WWE and Twitch enter multi-year partnership

WWE Superstars can now freely stream on Twitch.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and streaming website Twitch have signed a multi-year deal to bring new wrestling content to the online platform.

The deal will see the return of an official WWE Twitch channel, which will feature several different weekly broadcasts. These shows will run alongside WWE's main cable programming. They will start on Monday, June 5 with a show called: "Official Monday Night RAW Sidecast.

This show will begin at 8 p.m. EDT and will run weekly alongside the flagship television broadcast. The stream can be found at twitch.tv/wwe or via the Twitch mobile app.

WWE says that the Sidecast shows will feature rotating guests, keeping the feel fresh for viewers week-in, week-out.

The channel will also broadcast WWE's post-event press conferences. Those happen following the conclusion of the company's premium live events.

WWE talent used to be banned from Twitch

This is a landmark deal for WWE. In 2020, the company restricted all of its employees from using the Twitch platform. They reversed that decision in 2022, but it's still been slow for WWE Superstars to retake to the platform.

They were also banned from using Cameo to sell spots, with the company stopping its employees from using third-party companies to make money.

Triple H removed that ban and it allowed wrestlers to retake to the platform. Xavier Woods and Drew Gulak have been a couple of those to find success in the wider internet circle. Female performers Paige and Zelina Vega both encountered strong resistance from WWE because of the money they were making on the site.

When WWE originally banned Vega from streaming, she walked out but eventually returned. She recently competed in her home country of Puerto Rico.

WWE superstars will now likely flock back to Twitch with the platform handing them an opportunity to connect and engage with fans on an extra level. Superstars who don't get much time on the live shows have always sought a connection with the fans through things like Twitch, and it's good news that the ability to do that is returning.
