We might actually get the Switch 2 before GTA 6: Console rumored to be revealed this week

After years of rumors, leaks, and chasing the carrot stick Nintendo has been dangling in front of us, the Switch 2 is finally about to be revealed.

According to several reputable sources, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed fully later this week. Obviously, this is another rumor, and we know how many of those have come up over the past two years regarding Nintendo's next console. However, this time looks different, as several separate sources have all come out to say the same thing: the Switch 2 is finally being unveiled.

Below, you can see all of the details we have on those leaks and when the Switch 2 reveal is expected to happen.

The primary source behind this leak is Twitter/X user NateTheHate2. However, industry insider Tom Warren has also leaked the same information, giving further credibility to it.

According to both of these sources and others, the Nintendo Switch 2 is set for a reveal on Jan. 16. An exact time and location for the reveal has yet to be leaked and no event has been formally announced by Nintendo. With various sources coming out to leak the reveal, though, we should expect some sort of official announcement within the coming day or two.

While we await something concrete from Nintendo, NateTheHate2 has detailed what we can look forward to at the Switch 2 reveal. According to the leaker, the reveal will only focus on the Switch 2 itself. This means we'll likely see what kind of hardware is inside the console as well as how it compares to the original Switch. It can be assumed we'll also learn about the Switch 2's price, pre-order details, and more.

With the main focus on the console, though, it's unlikely any details about launch games will be revealed. NateTheHate2 states that a full reveal for some of the games arriving on the Switch 2 is coming sometime in the future.

The final leak from NateTheHate 2 regarding the Switch 2 is about its official release date. No concrete launch date has been leaked as of yet, but it's expected the console will be released in May or June of 2025.

It's unclear if any release date will be given at the reveal event for the Switch 2. Nintendo could be saving that nugget of information for a later date or the company simply might not have a final date nailed down just yet. Either way, fans will likely still be able to pre-order the Switch 2 soon, if not right after the reveal event has concluded.
