According to data miner, Gabe Follower, Deadlock will be a competitive, third-person hero based shooter. This will look much like the setting in Blizzard's Overwatch. Deadlock will be a 6 vs 6 battle on a huge map with four lanes. This game will have usable abilities, items, and tower defense mechanics.

Deadlock will have a fantasy mixed with steampunk theme. There will be a variety of characters/heroes in Deadlock like magicians, weird creatures, and even robots. According to Gabe Follower, there will also be a fast travel feature using floating rails, much like a feature in Bioshock Infinite.

In the graphic below, you'll be able to see the minimap and its four lanes. The background also shows the floating rails that lets you travel fast likely to the center of the map.

According to Gabe Follower, Deadlock's hero design is inspired by Dota 2. Meanwhile, the main map portrays a modern steampunk European city which is similar to Half-Life. The game will be focusing on fantasy-themed elements.

Developers initially also included sci-fi elements inspired by Half-Life and Portal. But due to bad feedback they will be sticking to fantasy.

Gabe Follower also shared a hero graphic from Deadlock. Here's Grey Talon, a character with a long range skill-shots. You'll also be able to see four ability icons in the graphic. The description of Grey Talon reads: A cunning predator, Grey Talon uses a combination of deadly accuracy, traps, and clever positioning to bring down the toughest of opponents.
