The next update will yield a whole crop of content.

Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has shared a sneak peek into the game’s 1.6 Update. This recent teaser confirmed that the game will get new festivals, more late-game content, hundreds of new lines of dialogue, and new secrets for players to discover.

What's new in Stardew Valley in 1.6?

Here’s everything ConcernedApe confirmed will be coming to the next content update of Stardew Valley.

The list of everything confirmed for update 1.6 is listed below.

  • A new major festival
  • Two new mini-festivals
  • New late-game content, which expands on each of the skill areas
  • New items and crafting recipes
  • Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests
  • 100+ new lines of dialogue
  • Winter outfits for the villagers
  • New type of reward for completely billboard requests
  • (PC) Support for 8 player multiplayer
  • Small additions and adjustments
  • New farm type
  • New secrets and more

Earlier this month, ConcernedApe also tweeted out a picture of a golden parrot with Joja branding on it. It seems likely with his recent information that this will have something to do with the additional Joja alternatives to quests. Some have speculated that this parrot is located on Ginger Island, which could mean maybe the capitalistic overlords are expanding out.

When will the 1.6 update release?

So far, we don’t know when this next update will release. However, this recent news does seem promising for a release date in the (hopefully) near future. ConcernedApe initially began working on 1.6 in April of this year. However, it seems that the update has grown considerably since then as he first announced that the update would focus primarily on changes for modders.

Stardew Valley hasn’t received an update since 2020, so the fanbase is definitely excited. Currently, ConcernedApe is also working on his upcoming game Haunted Chocolatier, though he did state that he is taking a pause on that until 1.6 is done.
