What to expect from Silent Hill f?
Like its predecessors, Silent Hill f is a third-person horror game that takes place in a surreal but nightmarish small town. Unlike past SH titles, however, it doesn't take place in Silent Hill.
Instead, this new entry is set in 1960s Japan, in a rural town inspired by the mountain village of Kanayama in the Gifu Prefecture. Ebisugaoka might not be a traditional SH setting but it features atmospheric environments and vivid imagery that has become a franchise staple.
Pyramid Head is notably absent, but there are new, terrifying monsters rooted in Japanese mythology. Silent Hill f looks quite disturbing too. The game's official website explicitly mentions depictions of gender discrimination, child abuse, bullying, and graphic violence, among other things.

Some of it is evident in the reveal trailer, in which we see Hinako struggling with the voice in her head and questioning her sanity. If you're a fan of the Fatal Frame games, you may find this new SH game intriguing since it also explores the customs and cultures of late 20th-century Japan.
There's also a focus on body horror. You can notice it in Hinako’s ragged clothes, blood dripping from her arms, unsettling flower blooms, and grotesque face peel at the end of the reveal trailer.
Interestingly, Silent Hill f has some big names attached to it. Ryukishi07, who created the mind-bending horror visual novel Higurashi When They Cry, is the story and scriptwriter for this game.
The legendary SH composer, Akira Yamoka, is back and is helming the game’s soundtrack alongside Kensuke Inage. Overall, Silent Hill f looks to be a bold and refreshing new survival horror title that we are very excited to get our hands on.
