Does Twitch allow nudity? The new update reverted the policy just now.

Twitch's artistic nudity rule was the trending topic after Amazon's streaming platform decided to allow it. This followed the Morgpie drama, where she was banned after streaming topless. Twitch decided to address this in a long update, claiming that "Content that ‘deliberately highlighted breasts, buttocks or pelvic region,’ even when fully clothed" was now allowed.

While Morgpie thought this was a step forward in terms of more creative freedom for streamers, the community felt this was not needed, since Twitch is a gaming streaming platform and the already existing "hot tub" category should be enough. VTuber Kai tried to explain this in a visual way, highlighting what "artistic nudity" meant.

But when the conversation about it was peaking, Twitch decided to step back. Dan Clancy, Twitch's CEO, wrote an update to calm down the community and express how he thinks they crossed a line with the past update.

"Upon reflection, we have decided that we went too far with this change. Digital depictions of nudity present a unique challenge – AI can be used to create realistic images, and it can be hard to distinguish between digital art and photography."

What was the trigger for the step back?

Artistic nudity on Twitch could've been a positive thing for some creators. However, the rule was easily misinterpreted by some streamers trying to jump into the topless meta as quickly as possible. Below is an example of what the community criticized.

Does Twitch allow nudity in games?

With GTA 6 coming out, some people may be concerned that sexual content in games like it could trigger a ban. Clancy made it clear that the restriction does not apply to mature-rated games. But don't forget to tag the game as mature content, as that is still mandatory.

Following the sexual content policy drama, more conversations may spark on the matter. So be sure to check back on esports.gg for more updates.
