PlayStation will launch its new console in November.

On Sept. 10, PlayStation and Sony confirmed the release of its next console, the PS5 Pro, which will happen at the end of 2024.

The PS5 Pro will be the first new PlayStation console ever since the release of the PS5 in November 2020 and the PS5 Slim in November 2023, respectively. While this doesn't sound as promising as the release of a PS6, the new console will be better than the current PS5, PlayStation said.

Here's everything you need to know about the PS5 Pro, including its release date, retail price, and why is it better than the current PS5 consoles.

When does the PlayStation 5 Pro release?

The console will launch worldwide on Nov. 10, according to PlayStation.

What are the differences between the PlayStation 5 Pro and the other versions?

The main takeaway of the PS5 Pro is that graphics rendering will be 45% faster, according to PlayStation lead architect Mark Cerny. PlayStation also mentioned that it developed the PS5 Pro to run "higher fidelity graphics" with smoother frame rates at 60FPS, as per the community's feedback.

This is what is new in the upcoming PlayStation console:

  • Upgraded GPU: We are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
  • Advanced Ray Tracing: We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
  • AI-Driven Upscaling: We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
