The shared metaverse of IP crossovers continues to grow, as Hasbro's Universes Beyond line of MTG cards announced a Magic: The Gathering x Lord of the Rings set today. What Fornite began years before, other games and franchises are now dipping their own toes into these potentially profitable waters. The draft and straight-to-Modern MTG x LOTR set releases June 23, 2023 and will feature a number of products across the Magic line.
If you're still on the fence about this set, you may want to figure things out in a hurry. The set was part of announcement last fall that included other franchises coming to MTG such as Assassin's Creed and Final Fantasy. So, fans have had a while to contemplate how hard they plan on going in for a LOTR set.
