“It’s my lucky day.”

Buckle up, Resident Evil fans, it seems the next Resident Evil 9 Requiem trailer will finally feature everyone’s favorite swash-buckling cop-turned-agent, Leon Kennedy. Ever since Capcom revealed RE 9, rumors about Leon being one of the protagonists have been spreading like wildfire.

Surprisingly, Capcom has addressed the elephant in the room and, unfortunately, negated all rumors about Leon’s appearance in Resident Evil 9, calling him a “bad match for horror.” However, this could be a misleading marketing stunt, as RE: Requiem is set to feature action sequences where Leon’s expertise could come in handy.

Capcom will be at Tokyo Games Show 2025, and it seems the company is planning to showcase a new Resident Evil 9 Requiem trailer in or around that time. According to the notable RE insider, Dusk Golem, the next trailer for the game will premiere at Sony’s upcoming State of Play event. More importantly, it will reveal Leon Kennedy as one of the protagonists of RE 9.

Golem suggests that this State of Play will take place on Sept. 23 or Sept. 24, and that an official announcement should be made soon. PlayStation usually holds State of Play showcases on Tuesdays, so Sept. 23 seems like a plausible date.

As for the trailer itself, Golem didn’t reveal anything about its content or length. That said, Capcom will be promoting RE 9 Requiem at TGS, so players shouldn’t have to wait much longer for more information about the game. There will also be a Play Panel for RE 9 on Sept. 28.

Ever since its reveal at this year’s Summer Games Showcase, Capcom has been aggressively promoting Resident Evil 9 Requiem via new trailers, gameplay demonstrations, and press previews. The latest trailer aired recently during the Nintendo Direct showcase, focusing on Alyssa and Grace Ashcroft as they navigate the terrifying interiors of the Wrenwood Hotel.
