In a massive announcement, KRÜ Esports has revealed a new co-owner in the form of football legend Lionel Messi.

There were rumors that Founder and CEO of KRÜ Esports, Sergio Agüero, was stepping back. The football legend started the pink brand in 2020 and grew it into a premier LATAM esports org. Instead of exiting the org, he has found a partner in the form of another football superstar. Lionel Messi joins as a co-owner of KRÜ Esports.

Sergio Agüero isn't just any esports owner. He's shown up for his team in VALORANT during the 2023 VCT Americas and actively supports their efforts. The football star has done a wonderful job with the organization he's created.

Now, he brings on good friend and fellow football icon Leo Messi. With KRÜ based in Argentina, it makes perfect sense that the Argentinian Messi is on board. In a post on X with the caption "Ahora somos 2," which translates to "Now we are 2," Agüero introduced the new co-owner.

The founder of the organization started the video saying he has some things he needs to clear up. KRÜ Esports is reaching its third year as an active org and Agüero seemed to choke up a bit stating he was no longer the owner.

This is because he is now considered a co-owner. The video cuts to Leo Messi watching the KRÜ Esports announcement. It then confirms that Leo Messi is now co-owner of KRÜ Esports, ending the video with a huge smile on Agüero's face.

Arguably the greatest footballer to ever exist, Messi joins a multitude of traditional sports athletes with a stake in esports. It will be interesting to see how KRÜ evolves with Leo Messi at the helm alongside Sergio Agüero.
