Here’s a recap of the whole Coffeezilla x Logan Paul CryptoZoo situation

The Logan Paul CryptoZoo situation with Coffeezilla has taken another drastic turn. A full year after Coffeezilla initially investigated Logan Paul's CryptoZoo project, it seems like we are entering the home stretch of the story. But how did the situation develop to this point? Well here's a breakdown of what's been going on between Logan Paul and Coffeezilla.

Logan Paul and CryptoZoo: What happened?

Our story starts with Logan Paul's CryptoZoo project. This was an NFT-based crypto project that was advertised as a "really fun game that makes you money". The game revolved around a cryptocurrency called ZooCoin.

Players would use ZooCoin to purchase eggs that held a random animal hybrid NFT. The gameplay loop would involve players hatching these animal hybrids and then selling them to earn more ZooCoin, which they could then cash out for real money. This play-to-earn model isn't new, as it's been seen in other games like Axie Infinity.

Enter Coffeezilla, the Detective

Stephen Findeisen, better known as Coffeezilla is one of the most well-known crypto journalists on the internet. He exposes and investigates countless crypto scams and creates videos about them. Last year, Coffeezilla made a three-part documentary investigating Logan Paul's CryptoZoo project.

In short, what Coffeezilla found was that fans of the game who invested in this project lost thousands of dollars. When Logan Paul advertised CryptoZoo, it was this new passion project that was fun, could earn players real money, and was backed by one of the biggest influencers in the world. All players needed to do was start buying eggs. There seemingly was no downside. However, that wasn't the case.

The players who invested in ZooCoin, ready to hatch their eggs and start trading never got the chance. In Coffeezilla's conversations with the CryptoZoo investors, he found that there was no way to cash out your ZooCoin nor hatch the eggs that these players invested so much money in.

Despite the seeming abandonment of CryptoZoo, Logan Paul explained that this was due to "bad actors" who were involved in the project that caused its downfall. He said that it was these individuals ruined the project, not Logan. Which wasn't quite the case.

Logan Paul vs Coffeezila

Now when Logan caught wind of the situation, he claimed that Coffeezilla was using his name for recognition. That Coffeezilla was milking content out of the situation, that he was publishing defamatory statements towards Logan Paul's name, and that there would be a lawsuit headed to Coffeezilla.

After a few back-and-forth between Coffeezilla and Logan Paul about the whole CryptoZoo situation, it seemed like progress had been made. Logan was going to take accountability, apologize, and come forward with a plan.

Now with this message, both Coffeezilla and the CryptoZoo investors were hopeful that they would be refunded. But that didn't happen. Rather, Logan decided to refund only the egg NFT's rather than the actual ZooCoin. Unfortunately, due to the fact that eggs couldn't even be "hatched", the money returned would be a considerably smaller portion of Logan's profits. This refund, although it seemed to be a step in the right direction was a ruse.

As the caveat of accepting these terms was that further legal claims against Logan would be waived. Not to mention that this "Buy-Back" would only be available for a month, nor would the game ever be released. All in the meantime Logan was thanking Coffeezilla for shedding light on the situation with his investigation. This was only half the battle.

One Year later, and where we are now

After some time, on August 6th Coffeezilla posted a video detailing how he is being sued for defamation. In this new video detailing the lawsuit, Coffeezilla elaborated on another investigation related to Logan Paul and how this defamation lawsuit seems to be no coincidence. The video explains that the lawsuit is more about Logan's evasion of accountability for what happened with CryptoZoo. And that's where the story ends for now. A pending lawsuit from Logan Paul that Coffeezilla intends to fight.

"Rather than pay back his victims fully, Logan would rather publicly humiliate himself in court by accusing me (Coffeezilla) of defaming him".
