Metroid Prime 4 has been a hit since it released for the Switch and Switch 2 the other week. However, those hesitant on buying it can now play a demo at select stores.

Metroid Prime 4 was released just days ago for the Switch 2, marking a historical moment for the series, as Metroid Prime 3 was released all the way back in 2007 for the original Wii. However, for those trying to play a demo of the game before purchasing, there is actually a way you can do so, just like the old days on the DS.

Metroid Prime 4 demo available at Best Buy and other stores

Back in the day, if you brought your Nintendo DS to a Walmart or Best Buy, you could connect to DS Download Play and play the demos for multiple Nintendo games. Well, it looks as if Nintendo is bringing this feature back, as Switch 2 users can play the Metroid Prime 4 official demo at the following locations:

  • Best Buy
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • GameStop

What is different with this demo compared to the DS is that these locations will have a system set up that lets you play the demo. No need to bring your own system, just show up and wait in line to play the official Metroid 4 demo.

This is a great way to try out the game before actually purchasing it to make sure you enjoy it. No one wants to spend $60 on a game just to find out they hate it.

About Metroid Prime 4

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the fourth installment (figured that one out on my own) in the Metroid Prime series. The last official Metroid Prime game was released for the Wii back in 2007, marking an 18-year gap.

The game follows Samus through a vast open world, giving players a new taste of gameplay compared to past games. However, there is still a linear style of storytelling with the new Metroid; it just has an open middle area. It is sort of like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with Hyrule Field.

The game has received quite positive reviews, marking a new chapter for the series, and is available to play on both the Switch and Switch 2.
