Destiny 2 fans are split on the requirements for getting the new exotic class items.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape has continued to be a massive success for the franchise, but it may have just had its first moment of contention amongst the community. This is thanks to the quest required to get the new exotic class items called Dual Destiny, which requires playing alongside another player in a specifically two-player activity. This exotic class item quest is causing widespread discussion across the Destiny 2 player base.

How to acquire and complete Destiny 2 exotic class item quest: Dual Destiny

In order to get the new exotic class items in Destiny 2, players must first complete Overthrow activities in the Pale Heart, kill a few hidden bosses, and then find a semi-hidden quest location for a quest called Dual Destiny.

It is through this quest that you can obtain the exotic class items that were previewed prior to the release of The Final Shape, but there's a catch - you must complete this quest with exactly two players. And it's not easy.

Popular Destiny 2 content creator Aztecross has a great guide for obtaining and completing the Dual Destiny questline, including a full walkthrough of the mission's many mechanics, callouts, and puzzles.

For an experienced player like him, completing this is relatively no sweat, but casual players, and players that prefer to play solo, have a bit of a different take on it.

Dual Destiny quest has Destiny 2 fans split

As soon as this quest's details went live, Destiny 2 social media (and Reddit in particular) began swirling with conversations about its unique demands, with some absolutely loathing it and others loving it. A few of the threads below show just how split many players are over the co-op requirements, which seems to be the crux of the issue.

As these threads show, fans on the one side love the raid-like challenges of the mission and view it as a more accessible way to access that sort of activity in Destiny 2.

On the other side of the aisle, fans feel a bit betrayed that Bungie marketed these exotic class items so heavily, only to lock them behind a difficult quest that requires co-op, preferably with comms.

One caveat that fans are taking solace in is that, if you manage to complete the Dual Destiny quest, you can find exotic class items with different rolls in chests throughout the Pale Heart. So, at least this is something you will only have to do complete one time.

We will continue to monitor this discussion and will await any potential response from Bungie devs on this issue.
