COMBO BREAKER 2023 reveals tournament info, 29+ fighting game lineup

No coast, no kings, just fighting game tournaments. COMBO BREAKER 2023 announced its convention schedule, which includes what may be the final major Street Fighter V tournament.

No coast, no kings. One of the perennial FGC tournaments returns to the Midwest as COMBO BREAKER 2023 revealed its schedule today, along with a lineup of over 29 fighting game tournaments. Making a return to Schaumburg, Illinois for 2023, COMBO BREAKER looks to continue a tradition of bringing the culture of the fighting game community to the masses. Along the way, it looks like we'll get an amazing weekend of tournaments to boot. The convention takes place May 26-28.

The Midwest runback

Formed in 2015 as a convention and fighting game tournament extravaganza, it appears that COMBO BREAKER 2023 will keep the tradition alive. This year's gathering looks to offer a full arcade ballroom, a pop-up shop for the COMBO BREAKER apparel brand, mystery tournaments, and more crammed into the Schaumburg Convention Center. But as well all know, the real draw are the fighting games. Good thing there's no short supply of FGC goodness awaiting competitors at this year's iteration.

Notably, COMBO BREAKER 2023 could very will be the last major Street Fighter V tournament before the release of Street Fighter 6. 2017's tournament doubled as a Capcom Pro Tour qualifier, with NuckleDu Ruffin securing first place. Other notable players from last year's SFV tournament include Filipinoman, MenaRD, SMUG, Punk, Justin Wong, and more. There's no reason to doubt that the final major tournament of the Street Fighter V cycle may very well bring out the old-heads for one final spin.
