Brawl Stars May Update: Free rewards, new brawlers, and more!

We expected it to be huge, but never Godzilla huge!

The patch is coming soon, and the latest Brawl Talk revealed a ton of content coming for the Brawl Stars May update! Including two brand-new brawlers, six hypercharges, and new game modes. Supercell also shared more information on City Smash, the game mode in collaboration with Godzilla. However, there's also a new skin theme coming to different brawlers: The hacker skins.

If this is not enough, keep reading to find out more about the new modifiers that will be introduced for trophy modes and ranked.

Lily and Draco: May's new brawlers

Lily and Draco are coming with the Brawl Stars May Update, and we've got some details on how their mechanics work and some of their damage information. The first one is a Mythic rarity brawler, while the second is Legendary.

Lily has only one ammo for her normal attack and deals a fixed amount of 2400, according to the Brawl Talk footage. Her range is about the same as El Primo's but can deal with long distances thanks to her super. When it lands, Lily will jump to the target location and deal a fixed amount of 2000 damage.

Draco attacks with his guitar, and the most damage he can make depends on landing it on full range. The guitar will do three instances of damage (1200/1620/2400), and his super depends on how many fireballs you connect.

Lily and Draco are getting skins on launch, for 29 gems each.

Godzilla x Brawl Stars event - A Comeback!

It's been a while since the last Brawl Stars collaboration, and Godzilla will be the comeback! With this new season, three new features will be introduced: Monster Egg, City Smash (new game mode), and mutations; plus, a free skin for Buzz.

Mutations will only be available during the Godzilla event, and they affect brawler mechanics directly. They will not be allowed in ranked and you can only use them in game modes with the "mutation modifier" icon. A total of 40 mutations were announced for the Brawl Stars May Updated.

Monster eggs will contain coins, power points, credits, blings, skins, and mutations. You can get them in three different ways:

  • Play and win on City Smash mode (maximum 6 every few days)
  • Get daily eggs with the super drops daily rewards
  • Buy them with gems

The Godzilla Club event rewards can get you up to 55 gems and the Hypercharge Godzilla skin for Buzz. This will also be the first of its kind: a skin that changes shapes during hypercharge. It will feature three different colors: Red, black and gold.

How to play City Smash ?

The new City Smash mode launches with the Brawl Stars May Update. There, teams will fight for bolts that spawn randomly across the map. The first to collect the most bolts in each round will become Godzilla or Mecha-Godzilla. While transformed, it's easier for the selected player to destroy the city elements. The team that breaks the most city elements is the winner.

New hypercharges for six different Brawlers

We're finally getting hypercharges for Brock, Nita, Tick, Max, Sandy, and Gene with the Brawl Stars May Update! No details on a hypercharge event were announced, but it is expected as it happened with every hypercharge release.

  • Brock: His super launches multiple waves of rockets
  • Sandy: Gives himself and his teammates extra movement speed in his sandstorm. Also, briefly silences enemies when it first lands on them.
  • Nita: Hypercharges Bruce the Bear, giving him extra speed and health.
  • Max: Throws an energy drink to their teammates, increasing their movement speed, and partially charging their super.
  • Tick: The head moves faster and leaves six mines behind after exploding.
  • Gene: Now throws three hands! Each able to grab one enemy.

Extras and skins

The Brawl Stars May Update features a new rank modifier called "Second Wind", which allows brawlers to respawn on the same place they were defeated, just the same as how Doug super's work. They also announced a new map: 5v5 knock-out. The mechanic is simple: The fewer brawlers left on your team, the more powerful the remaining are.

We're also getting a lot of skins. A lot. For the Godzilla event, four brawlers will get a Mecha-skin:

  • Mecha-Tick Ghidorah (Brawl pass plus unlocks two color variations)
  • Mechagodzilla Nita
  • Mothra Eve
  • Super Ranger Brock (available in red, yellow, pink, black, and blue)

The Cyberbrawl collection is also part of Brawl Stars May Update:

  • Hacker Brock (Brawl pass skin with two variations)
  • Bea byte
  • Fanguard
  • Glitch Larry & Laurie (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Virus Charlie

As previously announced, Amber Frost queen is now a Legendary skin and costs 299 gems. The Brawl Stars May Update will also come with two summer-ish skins, a new Mortis outfit, and recolored old exclusive skins:

  • Beach Byron (29 gems)
  • Parasol Frank (29 gems)
  • Gala Mortis
  • Byron the White (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Rui Shou Nita (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Wave hopper Jacky (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Filmmaker Buzz (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Moon Curser Penny (Rank Starr Drops)
  • Piano 8-bit (Rank Starr Drops)

To close the skin announcement segment, Supercell included a few reworked skins and the skin-makers winners:

  • Urban Ninja Tara
  • Squad Busters Shelly
  • Dark Samurai Gene (by Reghs)
  • Nightmare Sandy (by Gedikor)
  • New gold and silver skins added
