An unforeseen AAA game on its way: Crazy Taxi Remake revealed

SEGA released Crazy Taxi, an arcade game, in 1999 for the Dreamcast; and in 2001 for consoles and PC. Its popularity grew due to its unique gameplay. Players had to drive customers around the city, earning fares depending on the complexity of the task. However, the developers confirmed bigger plans for the Crazy Taxi remake.

The video published on YouTube by SEGA described the game as a multiplayer experience, in contrast with the original single player game.

The plan is to remake Crazy Taxi as an online game, and accomplish the same tasks with friends. The game will include open world characteristics, encouraging players to explore; just like a taxi driving around the city.

They also explained how short-staffed they are, and how complicated it is to find more people to work with. Therefore, the Crazy Taxi remake is still far from being published, and no dates are out yet.

However, with a big brand like SEGA behind, we can expect news about the game soon. The game publisher already teased the Crazy Taxi remake with other nostalgic titles. The list includes: Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and more. They were all labeled as "currently in development".
