After the announcement for Heroes of Newerth: Reborn, a project roadmap has appeared on the iGames website.
Heroes of Newerth: Reborn (HoNR) looks to reignite the flames of the game which shut down its servers in 2022. Announced on January 28, 2025, a partnership between Kongor Games and Garena would be bringing the game back — refreshed and renewed. With a new engine, updated graphics, and a modernized take on the nostalgic classic, HoNR looks to take on the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre once again.

Only days after the announcement, the iGames platform which will be hosting the game, has a roadmap for HoNR for 2025. The timeline takes the game’s journey all the way from alpha, through beta, and into the launch later this year.

Looking at the roadmap, we can see that we are at the Genesis Campaign period, which aims to fund the development of the game, as well as the future of HoNR. The Kickstarter, or Genesis Campaign, has a total of 10 different tiers of support, ranging from free all the way to a blistering $50,000. Each tier has exclusive rewards, including account titles, HoN tickets, courier skins, and much more.

Following that, the game will enter a closed beta in Summer 2025, with a “Road to Rebirth tournaments” period mentioned – which could put the game on the esports map. Fall 2025 will take HoNR into an open beta period – while also wiping the progress of the closed beta. This will give those who did not buy in on the Genesis Campaign a chance to finally get their hands on the game before it reaches its 1.0 launch patch in Winter 2025.
This HoNR roadmap shows a great path forward for the title, but many remain a bit skeptical about the iGames platform when the likes of Steam and Epic Games exist. However, with that said, we will have to wait for the beta testing to see how the iGames Engine feels and if HoNR will be able to take its place alongside the MOBA greats.
