Here’s when the post-post-apocalyptic game comes out on Steam.

Frostpunk 2 is set 30 years after a Blizzard ravaged the Earth. As the steward of the city, you have to ensure its survival, but also ensure that different factions survive together and strive toward a common goal. One of those goals is survival, sure, but there’s also power politics at play. If this sounds interesting you will want to play the game. Here’s what we know about Frostpunk 2’s release date and when you can gain access to 11 Bit Studio’s latest offering.

When does Frostpunk 2 release?

Frostpunk 2 releases on September 20, 2024, however, users that have the Digital Deluxe Edition gain Early Access to Frostpunk 2. They can play the game starting September 17, 2024, three days before the game’s release date. The game takes the first game’s genre - city survival, to a whole new level.

Frostpunk 2 Release

In this new game, you take on the role of a Steward and manage and lead your city through various natural challenges. It’s still a snowy setting and you still have to worry about the basic survival skills required for Frostpunk. But there’s more. As a Frostpunk 2 player, you also have to worry about managing different factions, personnel conflicts of interest, and how to expand the city with various districts.

Frostpunk 2 was first announced in 2021, a much-hyped sequel to the original game that was first released in 2018. While Frostpunk 2 was a complete game in itself, there were avenues to improve the game massively with the sequel. One of the biggest additions to the game is mod support, which will allow the community to go wild with imagination, different scenarios, and more.

The game’s beta went live earlier this year for a week. Players could access the Frostpunk 2 beta from April 15 to 22, 2024. Frostpunk 2 was initially supposed to be released in the Summer of 2024, but the developers delayed the release by a few months. The community’s reaction to the same was positive. Many fans felt it was prudent of the studio to delay the game’s release and ensure a better experience for players rather than release a game that is sub-standard and not fit for release.
