Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney subtley confirmed that Fortnite’s hit Blitz Royale game mode will become a permanent option.

It was inevitable, but we have official confirmation that Fortnite's scorching hot Blitz Royale will become a permanent option. While it was somewhat in question, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney reposted a message on X regarding this subject, verifying that Fortnite will add the mode to the game's rotation.

Here's what we know, along with some interesting statistics about Blitz Royale, to explain why it's such a massive hit.

It was only a matter of time before Epic Games embraced the new phenomenon. After initially intending to remove the game mode on July 15, the developers extended it to Aug. 12. Sure enough, two days following the initial end date, Tim Sweeney confirmed that Blitz Royale will become permanent.

He reposted the message above on X from one Fortnite leaker who confirmed the report from a pair of other leakers. That is about all the information you need to verify that this game mode will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

Why did Fortnite make Blitz Royale permanent?

What initially started as a limited-time mode (LTM) has quickly evolved into a game mode that Fortnite players can't stop playing. Blitz Royale arrived on June 18, deploying 32 players onto a mini island with the last person or team standing declaring victory.

The statistics tell the story of why Blitz Royale will remain a permanent fixture. It has regularly remained in the top four of Fortnite's most-played game modes behind only Reload, Reload Ranked, and Battle Royale.

More alarming is what Blitz Royale sits ahead of in the rankings: Zero Build and Fortnite OG. While Epic Games believed that working OG into the rotation would continue to drive traffic, that has not been the case.

The consistency of Blitz Royale since launch has become its most significant selling point. As a result, Epic Games made the only decision it could.
