The Milk Cup Finals will see 99 women fighting in Fortnite for their share of the $250,000 prize pool.

Gonna Need Milk announced on Aug. 12 that it is hosting The Milk Cup Finals, an all-women Fortnite tournament, on Oct. 5 at Los Angeles Comic Con.

This $250,000 event is the first all-women LAN tournament in the history of Fortnite. Some of the best 99 women Fortnite players in the U.S. get to compete for their share of the prize pool, which is the largest in North American women's esports history.

The Milk Cup Finals are being organized in partnership with eFuse's Women of the eRena (WOTE) and Fortnite streamer ThePeachCobbler, and is produced by Raidiant's all-women production team. The event aims to "address the unmet needs of women in professional gaming and provides a safe and inclusive space for women to compete professionally."

Gonna Need Milk is an initiative by the Milk Processor Education Program (MilkPEP), which is funded by the nation's milk companies to educate consumers and increase the consumption of fluid milk.

How to watch The Milk Cup Fortnite Finals

The event starts at 1 p.m. PST on Oct. 5 at Los Angeles Comic Con. The event also sees the competitors engage in a build trios tournament format, scored by a combination of placement points and team eliminations across six matches, according to Gonna Need Milk.

While fans can purchase tickets to follow the event live, they can also watch from home as long as they tune in to eRena's Twitch channel. Kelly Link is the host of The Milk Cup Finals, while LemonKiwi and Taco are the commentators.

The Milk Cup already succeeded in the qualifiers for the Fortnite Finals

According to Gonna Need Milk, over 300 women Fortnite competitors played through the three qualifiers, which amassed 2.5 million views. In the words of the organizer, The Milk Cup is not just another gaming tournament, but a "cultural milestone in the ongoing effort to elevate women in esports."

"The Milk Cup is a natural evolution of Gonna Need Milk’s commitment to supporting and empowering women in sports, including esports," MilkPEP's senior marketing director Jen Grubb said. "In addition to supporting women gamers by creating opportunities to compete and uplifting voices in the space, milk’s nutrients support gamers’ performance on a physical level. Dairy milk provides the nutritional foundation for optimal gaming performance with essential nutrients that can help support focus, plus protein and B vitamins that help provide sustained energy during long gaming sessions."
