“I just need to go live my life.”

Fortnite and streaming legend Turner “Tfue” Tenney has said goodbye to streaming and content. The popular Twitch streamer released a 40-minute YouTube video, taking fans back through history. Tfue retires from gaming and content with an illustrious career unlike any other creator.

Tfue retires, saying he wants more time for himself

Without notice, Tfue (25) took an extended leave from streaming over the last month. He silently stepped away to take a break and went silent on all social media platforms.

Apart from Fortnite releasing Tfue’s personalized locker bundle, the content creator remained quiet. Ultimately, he resurfaced on June 20 with a 40-minute nostalgia trip for fans as Tfue retires from content and gaming.

The emotional video documented Tfue’s streaming career, beginning in Destiny and taking the audience through his legendary H1Z1 and Fortnite endeavors. Although he left the door open for a potential return, Tfue said he feels trapped and needs to live his life.

What is Tfue’s impact on Fortnite and gaming?

Tenney is responsible for many of the most iconic moments in Fortnite history. He was a pioneer in every sense of the word. Alongside duo partner Cloakzy, the former FaZe Clan duo dominated the early tournament scene.

Their impressive run included a win at the 2018 Fall Skirmish Finals at TwitchCon. Beyond his competitive accomplishments, Tfue had many Fortnite clips go viral. His skills put him on the map and allowed him to build an audience of loyal followers.

Tfue retires, having left an immense impact on gaming. Despite gaining notoriety in Fortnite, he also found success streaming Minecraft speed runs, Call of Duty: Warzone, and Fortnite Zero Build before stepping away.

Twitter reacts to the retirement announcement

Many fellow players and creators paid tribute to Tfue amid his retirement. His long-time duo partner Cloakzy said, “Love ya buddy. Thanks for everything” in response to his tweet.

Others called Tfue the greatest of all time (GOAT) and a legend. Considering his impact on the Fortnite and streaming community, these words are challenging to dispute.

Tfue's retirement even prompted a response by long-time Fortnite rival Tyler "Ninja" Blevins, who said, "Hope you see this turner, love you bro and I know you are going to enjoy your time off. I’ll be missing my Fortnite rival <3 won’t be the same."

Tfue retires, having said he will be back someday, but we say goodbye to one of the most talented and influential Fortnite players ever.
