South Park Fortnite collab: Release date and what to expect

Not many had a Fortnite x South Park collab on their 2026 bingo card, but this game has proven that no partnership is out of the question. While few details have emerged, Epic Games has confirmed that the South Park collaboration will arrive this week, along with a humorous teaser image.

The more explicit details remain under wraps, but we have a sense of what to expect and when. Here is everything we know about the South Park Fortnite collab.

Fortnite's official X account posted a teaser image featuring the character Butters at his desk playing the game. The image's caption reads, "Chaos, loading...," an obvious nod to Butters's alter ego Professor Chaos. This has led to some speculation that there could be a South Park skin based on this character.

The post includes the release date of Friday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. ET, when the Item Shop resets. That covers everything Epic Games has confirmed thus far. However, thanks to various Fortnite leakers, we have an idea of what else this collaboration will offer when it arrives this Friday.

Fortnite leaker HYPEX has confirmed that multiple South Park skins will debut in-game as part of this collaboration. However, given the size of these characters, they will pilot mech suits to make their presence more appropriate. This is similar to how Epic Games handled Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson.

While the characters are unclear, it's safe to assume the core four of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman are locks to have skins. The inclusion of Butters in the teaser makes that a possibility as well. Another leaker, Wensoing, also revealed that a South Park Mini Battle Pass will be available, but it's unclear what it will include.

Last but not least, HYPEX confirmed that at least one Mythic item will be available, called the "Stick of Truth." Additionally, an unknown boss character will spawn on the map during this collaboration.
