The Getaway may be coming back to Fortnite after five years. Here is what we know.
Fortnite just updated its game files, and the infamous game mode, The Getaway, which has not been in the game for over five years, was adjusted. So, does this mean the game mode will be returning? Let's break it down.
Is The Getaway returning to Fortnite?
It would make a lot of sense if Fortnite brought this old game mode back to the Battle Royale. However, just because it was adjusted in the game files does not always mean it is coming back right away. In the past, leakers have created excitement over other game file changes, only for the actual change to never be released.
Still, there is a lot of hope surrounding the return of The Getaway in Fortnite.
The game mode was incredibly popular when it was in the game and could potentially pull in a lot of past players if it were released again.
So, what exactly is The Getaway?

Explaining The Getaway in Fortnite
The Getaway is a high-stakes Limited Time mode that was released back in 2018 during Chapter 1, Season 5. The game mode requires players to locate safes scattered around the island in supply drops. However, there are only four of them.
Inside the safes are giant jewels. Players must then carry that jewel to a random van on the island. Basically, the entire game is a heist mini-game.
The first team to bring their jewel to their van wins.
As you can see, this game mode would go great with Chapter 6, Season 2, considering the new season is rumored to be heist-themed. However, will it be a separate game mode? Or is it going to be implemented into the Battle Royale?
