A new Grenade Launcher variant has been unveiled by leakers.
According to a leak, a new Fortnite weapon called the Chain Launched is coming to Fortnite. The item is unique, but it’s unclear what purpose it serves. Amidst a sea of new Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3, the Chain Launcher will be an interesting addition.
What is the Fortnite Chain Launcher?
Famed Fortnite leaker HYPEX delivered the news via Twitter and had a clip to boot. As you can see in the video above, the weapon resembles the Proximity Grenade Launcher. However, there are two shots that you must fire for it to work.
The first shot from Fortnite's Chain Launcher attaches to one object, and the second completes the chain. In HYPEX’s clip, he connects a chain from a wall to the floor.
He then takes it one step further by connecting a vehicle to the ground. After driving away, the car stalls and can’t move anymore. The poster added that it’s still unfinished, so the weapon’s purpose is a mystery.

The popular Battle Royale has added some bizarre items over the years, but this one might take the cake. By all accounts, Fortnite's Chain Launcher appears to deal no damage. Otherwise, you would see the wall and car take damage.
You could possibly use the weapon to complete an in-game challenge. Certain quests require you to bring an item from one location to another. So, this theory could have some merit.
Another possibility is that Chain Launcher is strictly a Fortnite Creative Mode weapon. We have seen some items exist exclusively in Creative in past seasons. Could this be a similar situation?
