“My thought process is basically that I am going to do the best I can. Anything can happen. Who knows, we might end in first place.”

When thinking of the best Fortnite players of all time, MrSavage often comes to mind. The legendary competitor has been around since the World Cup days and continues to surprise players with every tournament he plays in.

MrSavage, who placed first in the FNCS Last Chance Qualifier, is preparing to give his all during the 2023 FNCS Global Championship in Copenhagen.

From Norway to Traveling the World: What it's Like to Play Fortnite Everywhere

MrSavage is no novice to the world of traveling. Since his early days in the game, the popular competitor has been traveling the world simply to compete in Fortnite.

"Traveling for Fortnite does not get old," said MrSavage in an exclusive interview. "That is easily the aspect I like most about having this kind of career."

The competitor has played in Sweden, the United States, Denmark and more for various different in-person events.

"I've probably competed in a Fortnite event in upwards of 15 countries probably. It is the best."

The 2023 FNCS Global Championship, which is currently being held in Copenhagen, Denmark, has already proved to be one of the greatest events in Fortnite history. MrSavage, who is competing in the lower bracket, is there to continue his legacy as one of the greatest Fortnite players of all time.

The Competition Begins: MrSavage Shares How He Feels Going into the Competition

With 75 teams coming together in Copenhagen to compete, many of them are preparing to face off against the best of the best Fortnite players in the world. The tournament brings the qualifiers from three different Majors held in 2023 together.

MrSavage though, qualified through the Last Chance Qualifier, where he and his duo (Vadeal) placed first, certifying them a spot in the official Globals event.

"This is like the biggest tournament since the World Cup in 2019," said MrSavage. "The skill in this tournament is easily going to be the highest that we have ever seen."

With a skill level pushing through the season, Fortnite has also brought forth a large prize pool of $4 million USD, the biggest prize pool since the World Cup.

"Everybody is going to be trying their best for that prize pool. It is going to be a really tough competition."

The lower bracket is made up of five games, where the top 25 teams make it to tomorrow's finals.

"We have got to qualify first, but then it is only six games in the finals. Anything could happen, you know?"

With a success story like MrSavage's, his level of confidence is something that he holds high. When his name joins up in the lobby, players get intimidated. So how exactly does a player like him think when going into a tournament of this scale?

"My thought process is basically that I am going to do the best I can," said MrSavage. "Anything can happen. Who knows, we might end in first place."

But despite his high confidence, the player still has specific situations that may be worrying him, even if it is just a tiny bit.

"My only worry is that since we are lower bracket, we may not know exactly who could be landing on us. It depends solely on how the competition goes during the upper bracket. We might get contested, but at the same time, we might not. We will have to do a lot of preparing."

Zero Build vs. Build: Which Mode Does MrSavage See As the Future

It is no secret that Zero Build is slowly rising to the top when it comes to the competitive world of Fortnite, but does the game mode have what it takes to surpass the popular Build mode?

MrSavage, who has competed in LAN events consisting of both modes, shares his thoughts on the great Zero Build vs. Build debate.

"Regular Build mode will always be the foundation of Forntite, in my opinion, but Zero Build is so much easier to watch for casual players and fans. So I think that is why we are seeing Fortnite steer towards it."

MrSavage also qualified for the Gamers8 LAN event in Saudi Arabia during the summer of 2023, which was a Zero Build Duos event.

"Personally, I don't like Zero Build at all. Maybe I'd stay and compete if competitive Fortnite fully switched to Zero Build, but I would have to wait and see first. I kind of take things as they come, you know?"

MrSavage has built the majority of his career on the regular Battle Royale Builds mode, which contemplates his reasoning as to why he is such a bigger fan of regular Builds.

But let's say FNCS in 2024 stays in the regular Battle Royale Builds mode... What team mode would MrSavage hope to see it be?

2024 FNCS: What Team Mode Should It Be?

There are barely over two months left in 2023, meaning Fortnite will be announcing the future of FNCS. For MrSavage, there are a few things he hopes to see in the upcoming competitive season.

"I would love to see trios again," said MrSavage. "We have had duos for such a long time. It has been two years now of only duos in FNCS. It would be really nice for a change."

Playing the same team mode for the entirety of two years can be daunting, especially for a competitive player whose career revolves around competing.

"I am starting to get unmotivated with just duos. Before it was duos, it was changing like every season almost. It was weird when it switched to duos and just never changed again."

But despite trios being his wish for next year's competitive season, MrSavage did not forget to pay his respects to duos.

"Overall though, duos is my favorite team mode. I think it is just because of the hype it creates when two top-tier players team up. When it is three players, there is less focus on each player."

There are still the possibilities of the team mode staying as duos, or possibly being squads or solos, outside of changing to trios. Regardless, MrSavage is prepared to continue to give his best when jumping off that Battle Bus.
