Epic Games has teased Laufey as the Fortnite Festival Season 14 headliner. Here's what we know about the Icelandic Grammy winner!

Icelandic singing sensation Laufey will headline Fortnite Festival Season 14. After much anticipation and uncertainty, Epic Games posted the first official teaser, featuring Laufey and Fortnite’s mascot Peely with an April 16 release date attached. See what we expect from this collaboration when it launches in less than a week.

Laufey to headline Fortnite Festival Season 14 on April 16

Few players and leakers expected a collaboration between Laufey and Fortnite Festival. However, there’s no denying the singer’s popularity. It’s a change of pace compared to the recent string artists the game has introduced.

Not much is known about the collab itself, but Laufey is likely showcasing at least one outfit she will wear in the game–a green dress to be precise. There were a few additional outfits showcased in the teaser, one even looked similar to Chappell Roan’s knight armor, but the green dress below is likely one of Laufey’s styles.

Beyond that, it’s safe to expect the pattern we’ve seen before to continue. Fortnite Festival partnerships typically include two skins, various Jam Tracks, Instruments, Emotes, and other cosmetics. It is anyone’s guess which direction Laufey and Fortnite took with this partnership. Ultimately, we should learn more over the next couple of days.

Who is Laufey?

Laufey, whose real name is Laufey Lín Bing Jónsdóttir, is an Icelandic singer who began her career in 2014. Her music blends jazz, pop, and classical, making this collaboration different from the others we’ve seen at the Fortnite Festival. Her career accolades include two Grammy Awards, which she won in 2024 and 2026 for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

The Iceland native is also a world-renowned cellistsomething we expect the Fortnite collaboration to reference one way or another. Laufey has several songs on YouTube with tens of millions of views, and her Instagram account has over 9 million followers.

She recently collaborated with Olympic gold medalist and aspiring Fortnite Icon Series member Alysa Liu, where the two reenacted Liu’s “Stateside” routine. Laufey is also releasing a music video for her new song “Madwoman” featuring Liu on April 13.

How much will the collaboration cost?

The Laufey Fortnite collaboration will have one skin locked behind the Music Pass, which will cost you 1,200 V-Bucks and feature other Laufey- and non-Laufey-related cosmetics and Jam Tracks. Her other skin will likely appear in the Item Shop for around 1,800 V-Bucks, alongside other items, at an unknown price.

From a player perspective, much of the Fortnite Festival subreddit featured commenters unfamiliar with Laufey. It is unquestionably the most unique collaboration we’ve seen thus far over the last 13 seasons.
