Fortnite has officially added weapon modifications to the game. Here is how you can modify a weapon in the game.

Fortnite Chapter 5 is officially here. With a new map, weapons, locations and more, many are hopping off the Battle Bus with more excitement than a seven-year-old on Christmas day. A new feature added to this season is weapon modifications, which can be found scattered throughout the island.

Here is how to modify weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5.

Modifying weapons in Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 1

The new Chapter's weapon modification system is a bit different than other games. Unlike Warzone, separate modifications like scope and more are not just lying around as loot. For players to want to modify their guns, they will have to visit a Mod Bench, which multiple can be found throughout the island.

Not only do players have to rely on Mod Benches, but many modded weapons can be found scattered throughout the map too.

How many mods on a weapon per rarity:

  • Uncommon weapon: One mod
  • Rare weapon: Two mods
  • Epic weapon: Three mods
  • Legendary weapon: Four mods

All of these guns can be upgraded too from using a Mod Bench. All you need is gold bars.

Do NPCs give modded weapons?

While in the past, many NPCs would grant players unique weapons for gold or defeating them, but they do not grant players modded weapons this season. This means that you will solely have to rely on loot searching or Mod Benches to get your modded and mod-compatible weapons.

Do Vending Machines give modded weapons?

Sadly, no, Vending Machines do not grant players modded or mod-compatible weapons. In the past, Vending Machines were known for giving players some of the best loot possible. While this is still true, none of the weapons will be mod-compatible.

This only means that you need to keep your eyes peeled for modded weapons while looting around the map.
