Fortnite Wild Weeks have returned for the first time in five years. Here's how this event works and what's coming back to the game.
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 1 is rapidly coming to an end, which means Epic Games has begun its quest to bring more eyes back to the game. As a result, Fortnite Wild Weeks have returned, meaning the next two weeks will provide players with old-school weapons and much more.
This article explains everything you should know about the return of Wild Weeks, including what to expect for each one as Chapter 7 Season 1 ends with a bang.
What are Wild Weeks in Fortnite?
Wild Weeks were a popular in-game event that began back in Chapter 2. Epic Games would temporarily bring back weapons and other items for players to enjoy. Each week had a theme, such as fire-based weapons, Shockwave-based items, and a week where all purchasable items were heavily discounted.
You can expect a bit of both with the return of Wild Weeks beginning today, March 5. Epic Games has unvaulted OG weapons, including the classic Assault Rifle (Scar), Hunting Rifle, Suppressed Submachine Gun, Combat Shotgun, and Pump Shotgun. These will all be available from today until March 19.
The second of two Wild Weeks begins on March 12, when Vending Machines will contain Legendary, Epic, and Exotic items. Gold Bars will also be much more plentiful in the locations where you can find them. That means you should be able to obtain enough Gold Bars to buy what you’d like.

Fortnite Wild Weeks Recap
- Week 1 lasts from March 5 through March 19 and brings OG weapons back into the loot pool, including the following:
- Pump Shotgun
- Combat Shotgun
- Suppressed SMG
- OG Assault Rifle
- OG Hunting Rifle
- Balloons
- Week 2 lasts from March 12 to March 19, which will add higher-rarity items to Vending Machines and add more Gold Bars to the map
With these changes, Epic Games has removed the Sovereign Shotgun while increasing the magazine size for all SMGs. Additionally, the OG Assault Rifle has a 1.75x headshot multiplier, and the Hunting Rifle is capable of one-shot headshot eliminations.
Other changes made in the Fortnite v39.51 update

Here are some other adjustments made by Epic Games in the last update of Chapter 7 Season 1:
- The MK-Seven and Deadeye Assault Rifle’s shots are now projectiles instead of hitscan at targets beyond 100m. You’ll need to account for travel time and a slight bullet drop at extreme ranges. Let us know how this feels!
- While the Deadeye Assault Rifle has been vaulted in Battle Royale, its change still applies to Reload, Blitz, and other modes.
- Fixed an issue with Mordecai’s “Oooohhh!” Emote audio playing shorter than expected.
- The in-game tournament points UI widget no longer overlaps the party information.
- Great news for that one friend who’s slow to requeue: we’ve extended the time window after a match ends.
- ‘Play Again’ matchmaking after a game now functions more smoothly so you can get into your next match faster without having to go back to the Lobby.
Only a few days remain until the end of Chapter 7 Season 1, so enjoy the Wild Weeks as we await what awaits in Chapter 7 Season 2!
